Welcome to The Hertfordshire & Essex High School. We are an all-ability school for girls aged from 11 to 18 years and boys aged from 16 to 18 years. We consistently achieve outstanding results in public examinations. In our most recent inspection, Ofsted described us as "an outstanding school with an outstanding Sixth Form".
We are a vibrant and happy community providing an exciting variety of opportunities for girls to develop their talents, to enjoy themselves and to flourish as individuals. Our students are exceptionally bright and enthusiastic. They thrive in our relaxed, supportive atmosphere, and take personal responsibility for their own learning. Our work is recognised in our designation as a Teaching School and Maths Hub.
Our staff work with great skill and dedication to provide enjoyable and challenging experiences that stretch our students' learning to its limits. Whilst our academic results are stunning, we also look for broader measures of success: our students' personal development, their satisfaction and their confidence for the future.
Our aim is to provide a world class education for our students. We are one of the country’s first Teaching Schools and a Specialist Science College. We have a large, dynamic, high calibre Sixth Form, which is going from strength to strength and we are able to attract the best staff.
This is a really special school: a stimulating environment and a great experience for everyone of us involved in it.
