HEMAT to sponsor Manor Fields Primary School
Herts & Essex and Manor Fields Primary School – Sharing Knowledge for an Outstanding Education
Herts & Essex Multi-Academy Trust (HEMAT) is delighted to announce a new partnership. From September 2017 Manor Fields Primary School will join HEMAT and the new academic year will mark the start of an exciting new collaboration in Bishop’s Stortford.
HEMAT, which was established by Herts & Essex, has been invited to sponsor Manor Fields by the Regional Schools’ Commissioner. It is planned that HEMAT will operate in the background with Herts & Essex and Manor Fields preserving their individual identities and governing bodies. The new partnership will enable both schools to learn from each other and to share their best practices. Many innovative projects are planned, such as the delivery of an all-through education of the highest standard, from age 4 to age 18. On a practical level, there are far-reaching plans, for example, a state-of-the-art ICT strategy is being developed across both schools. In response to their new responsibilities, Herts & Essex’s governing body has agreed to consult on a change to the admission arrangements for entry 2019 onwards: it has been proposed that students from Manor Fields will gain automatic entry to Year 7 at Herts & Essex.
Cathy Tooze, commented, ‘We are delighted that Manor Fields, such a popular and established primary school, is the first to join HEMAT. The partnership will undoubtedly benefit students and staff at both schools. It is a chance for staff to share skills and expertise with each other in a very supportive way. Being part of a MAT is about sharing resources, but also about close and collaborative working. Sharing of best practice enables achievement of the highest standards. We are confident that HEMAT understands the needs of the school and will work with Manor Fields to achieve the best outcomes. It is a new chapter for us all and we look forward to an exciting future together. ’
Manor Fields’ Acting Headteacher, Helen Smith is equally enthusiastic about the venture: ‘We are very pleased with this new partnership and excited about the opportunities the collaboration will bring. It will build on the good work of Manor Fields’ excellent staff and improve the educational outcomes and experiences even further for the children at our school. An exciting future lies ahead!’
